Client Challenge: Feasibility Stage
Pet Price set out to launch a world-first concept: a membership-based, large format pet store combining bulk buying, operational efficiency and affordability. The vision was ambitious, but the delivery path was undefined. The project involved combining two tenancies into a multi-thousand-square-metre retail warehouse, with a compressed programme ahead of Christmas trading and complex infrastructure including cool rooms, racking and specialised services unfamiliar to the client.
Associated Projects engaged early through site audits, feasibility reviews and budget guidance, delivering a robust retail fit-out feasibility study tailored to large format retailers and pet stores, and reducing commercial construction risk before work commenced.
Our Approach (Design Stage)
Associated Projects delivered a full Design & Construct solution, purpose-built for a large format pet store environment. Early sketches and concepts were developed into a clear, buildable layout through an iterative process using 3D walkthroughs, coordinated design documentation and value management.
Early contractor involvement ensured buildability advice, honest cost feedback and practical sequencing, aligning the retail fit-out design with the realities of a high-volume, warehouse-style design & construct process.
Delivery & Execution (Construct Stage)
The project was delivered as a turnkey retail fit-out for a large format retailer, constructed within a live base-building environment and coordinated alongside multiple specialist trades and suppliers.
Key challenges solved:
- Integration of large-scale cool rooms, freezers and forklift-rated floor systems
- Custom racking, mezzanine construction and high-capacity services suited to bulk retail
- Complex plumbing and services to support Australia’s largest dog wash installation
All works were managed using Procore and delivered in compliance with Avetta, CM3 and 1breadcrumb safety systems, ensuring full control across this commercial construction project.

Pet Price opened the doors to a landmark large format pet store that redefines the traditional pet retail model.
